What do sun or age-related spots look like? Brown, dark, or very dark, flat, round, and oval spots with regular edges. They appear isolated or grouped in sun-exposed areas (face, hands, décolleté, arms, and back). They do not disappear during winter and persist throughout the year. They are formed by the accumulation of two skin pigments: melanin and lipofuscin. Their appearance is due to overexposure to sunlight and/or pollution.
